FAQ’s

Q. I want to be a regular reporter. Can I sign up somewhere?
A. Absolutely. Just visit our report later page and fill out your details. We’ll be in touch from there.

Q. Why isn’t my favourite resort listed?
A. If there is a resort you think we have missed please let us know via email (nathan@diditsnow.com). We are happy to add resorts to our list if site users feel it is important.

Q. If I send in an SMS how is my privacy protected?
A. Only the last 5 digits of your mobile number are displayed with your report. The other numbers are blocked. This means you can easily identify your post but have your privacy protected at the same time.

Q. I sent in a report but it didn’t appear on the site. What happened?
A. Who knows! Did it Snow relies on technology and sometimes technology fails. It might have been your mobile network, or our backend systems, or maybe the work experience kid tripped on a cable again. If your report isn’t visible after 5 minutes try sending it again. If it still doesn’t appear give up and go and hit the slopes…

Q. Some words of my report were blocked out. Why?
A. A wide variety of people read the reports on Did it Snow so to keep it friendly to all our system automatically blocks swearing and some other offensive remarks. If you think your words were unfairly blocked send us an email and we’ll check it out.

Q. I sent in an email report but didn’t realise my signature was attached to the email. Can I get it removed?
A. We regularly moderate the reports that come through and will remove identifying information if we notice it. If there is something we missed click on ‘Offensive, Irrelevant or Spam’ and ask us to remove the signature. We’ll do it ASAP.

Q. Does Did it Snow exist in any other country?
A. Only Australia and New Zealand at the moment but we have plans to take over the world!

Q. Is Did it Snow independent, or owned by one of the resorts?
A. Definitely independent. We love the Australian and New Zealand snow industries but we aren’t owned by any part of it. The only contribution comes from the sponsors on our site…so by supporting them you are supporting us!

Q. Couldn’t spammers (or anybody for that matter) put rubbish on your site?
A. Possibly, but we have some systems in place to try and stop that. We have multiple levels of spam filtering on all messages and comments which we believe will catch 99.9% of rogue messages. We also moderate the site throughout the day keeping and eye on all the messages that come through. But our site visitors also help. If you see something that isn’t right, maybe it is offensive or is clearly spam, click on the ‘Offensive, Irrelevant or Spam’ link that exists with every report. By doing that the attention of a moderator is drawn to the report and we can quickly determine if the post should be deleted. It is similar to youtube really. Anyone could post an inappropriate video, but site moderators and the general public help to keep it in check.
